Comparative Study on the Characteristics of Lycoris albiflora Native to Korea and to Japan


Abstract
The external morphological and ecological characteristics of Lycoris albiflora were investigated. The differences between Korea and Japan innative were also compared through the analysis of epidermal patterns of the leaf blades and karyotype. The flowering period of Korea one is from the middle of August to the beginning of September and Chat of Japan one is from the middle of September to the beginning of October. The leafing period of Korea one is the middle or the end of February and that of Japan one is the beginning of October. The flower stalk color of Korea one is moderate reddish brown (10R) and that of Japan one is strong yellow green (SGY). The flower bud color of Korea one is vivid reddish orange and that of Japan one is yellowish white (7.5Y). The petal waviness of Korea one is slight and that of Japan one is heavy. The pistil and stamens of Japan one have much projection and those of Korea one have no projection. The epidermis cell of Korea one is oblong, and that of Japan one is rhomb. The chromosome number of Korea one is 3n=30 (triploid plant) and that of Japan one is 2n=19 (aneuploid plant).
